The world of bingo has just lost one of its most avid bingo loving fans Edith Guildford, after she passed away just a few days ago, with her family at her side.

Eidth was 106 years old when she sadly died, and she celebrated her mile stone birthday last year at Gala Bingo in Strood. She was well known by all the staff their and it has been reported that she had celebrated several of her birthday’s with the Gala Bingo club. Edith was Gala Bingos oldest bingo player.

Anthony Jordon is the Manager at Gala Bingo in Strood and he had this to say about Edith: “Staff here are very sad to hear Edith has passed away. Our condolences go out to her family.” Assistant Manager Matt Yeo, said: “Edith celebrated several of her birthdays here. Most of our staff knew her and liked her very much. She will be missed by us all.”

It looks like Edith Guildford had a really fulfilled life; just have a read of her son Martins very touching quote: “Mum was an amazing woman and did so much with her life. When she was in her 80s she went around Brands Hatch in a car at 100 miles an hour. Things like that were typical of her. She said she didn't like people saying they were bored, she said there was always something to do. She really did have a great zest for life and always said she'd been lucky.”

Edith also made it into the Guinness Book of Records this year in March for being the world’s oldest bridesmaid, after she was a bridesmaid to her great granddaughter. This is another indication of what a great life Edith seemed to have led and it looks like nothing stooped her from doing exactly what she wanted to do, and her age was no barrier for her either.

Along with her son Martin, Edith also leaves behind two daughters, Muriel Stevens and Marje Harwood. Her funeral is set to take place on May 8th at the Eltham Crematorium, as that is where her husband was also laid to rest.
