The Top Ten Bingo Club situated in Billingham, Teesside are thought to have made a bingo prize blunder to the tune of £4,000, but they have reportedly refused to honour their mistake. 19 year old bingo player Lynsey Dickenson called ‘house’ at her local Top Ten Bingo club and thought she had won a very nice £5,000 cash prize which she said was displayed on the screen monitor inside the club. However this did not turn out to be the cash because apparently the incorrect prize money was on the screen as it should have shown a house prize of £1,000 and not £5,000.

It was not until Lynsey went to collect her winnings after a member of the Top Ten Bingo staff had given her a (prize winners document) which was signed by them and stated a prize win of £5,000, did things start to go wrong.

Lynsey spoke to the (Sunday Sun) about her ‘unlucky for some’ bingo experience, she said, “I was over the moon when I won, really excited, I’d never won anything big before. The board definitely showed £5000 and I am convinced it was announced for the same amount although they deny it. What’s more a member of staff even signed a document - called a Prize Winner’s document - for £5000. Now I have made a complaint and it is going to go before an independent third party.”

A similar incident to this took place at the online bingo site of Foxy Bingo last year. On one of their regular weekly guaranteed online bingo games a technical issue arose. The prize money for this particular game should have showed a guaranteed amount of £500, but instead it showed the game to be guaranteed at a whopping £50,000. This was plain for all their players to see who participated in the online bingo game.

Despite this online bingo game being advertised at £500, Foxy Bingo still took it on the chin and honoured this huge bingo mishap. This resulted in the lucky winner walking off with £49,500 more than she should have done.

The ‘Gambling Commission’ is understood to be investigating Lynsey’s claim, so she will now have to wait and see what the outcome will be. Top Ten Bingo have apparently offered their apologies to Lynsey, but insist she was paid out the correct prize money.
