One very lucky 20 year old young lady called Emma has just won £313,000 at her local Mecca Bingo hall in Forge Street, Glasgow on only her third visit to the bingo club and she only went on the night of her huge bingo win, because her gran talked her into going! You often hear the old saying “third time lucky” and that most certainly seems to be the case for Emma, plus when you hit the big jackpot on the national bingo game, you also win three huge cash sums!
Emma Johnston is only 20 years old and as well as it being third time lucky for her at Mecca Bingo, beginners lucky also seems to have come her way to, because the first ever time she went to bingo with her gran at Mecca Bingo she won a house prize of £220, she did not win anything on her second visit, but going bingo for a third time as just paid off in dividends for the young lady. Emma spoke to the national gaming body after her massive bingo win and this is what she told them.
“I just couldn’t believe it when they told me how much I had won. It was my gran, who is a very keen bingo player, who started me off playing a couple of months ago. The first time I went I won £220! Then nothing the second time and now this. I am sharing the prize-money with her and even she says it isn’t real. When I shouted for the house prize, I thought to myself I will put that by for a holiday,” said Emma. “I carried on playing the next few games not realising I had a chance with the National prize. At the very end of the session they told me how much I had won. I just couldn’t take it in and my gran sat there shaking.”
Emma’s grandmother is 65 years old and lives in North Lanarkshire and Emma herself comes from North Glasgow. She currently works as an administrator and when she told her boyfriend just how much she had won at Mecca Bingo, he didn’t believe her. Emma said, that she now plans to buy a flat with her share of the winnings, as she can now pay for it outright and still have money left over in the bank, thanks to the huge bingo win that has now made this a possibility for the young lady.
This massive cash prize was won by Emma because of the monthly platinum jackpot play off bingo games that take place on the last Sunday of each month. Emma played the afternoon session of bingo at Mecca Bingo and her winnings were made up as follows – First she won the platinum jackpot prize of £303,904 by calling house on this game in just 37 numbers, she also took away the national bingo jackpot prize of 8,960, plus the regional prize of 1,020 and Mecca Bingo’s own in house prize of £220!
