Two sisters, Linda Kenny and Doreen Thomas, who sued their sister Edna Saxon over a £50,000 bingo win at the Buckingham Bingo hall in June 2007, have just won their court case, with the Judge awarding them both £17,463, which would have been their share of £16,666, plus interest from this big bingo win.

The hearing was held at the Chester County Court and Judge Derek Halbert, who was presiding over the case ruled that Mrs Saxon, who is the eldest out of the three sisters had gone back on an oral agreement that they made back in 2005. He also went on to say that, what Edna Saxon, who comes from Liverpool had done, amounted to a breach of contract.

It has come to light however, that Edna Saxon has spent all of the money. So will the sisters now get the money they have been awarded by the court? This unfortunately, will remain to be seen. If there is no money left, then there could be more legal action in the pipeline, but this will be down to the sisters Mrs Kenny and Mrs Thomas to decide what they are going to do next, if anything at all.

The damage has now been done, due to Edna going back on the sisters agreement to share any bingo wins they may have whilst playing bingo together. As to whether the rift will ever heal in this family, only time will tell.

After the court hearing it has been reported that Doreen Thomas said, “The three sisters had always split their bingo winnings. She was fine in the bingo. We all agreed it was going to be £16,666 each and she was quite pleased with that. She Said, she was going to put £10,000 in the bank and go on a spending spree. As soon as she got home she changed her mind and just turned nasty."

Linda Kenny also spoke after the hearing and said, "We just couldn't believe what she had done. You'd never dream your sister would do that to you."

It is a sad day really when money seems to mean more to a person, than their family! There are lots of bingo players that regularly attend bingo sessions with friends or family and split any winnings they have, sometimes it can be like an unwritten agreement between them.

After writing about this case and seeing what it has done to this family, maybe it is time for bingo players that agree to share bingo winnings with either family or friends to write a written agreement out, instead of just having an oral one. This would help to stamp out these kinds of cases that leave a really bad taste in your mouth!

No one likes to think that a friend, family member or sister as in this case, would do such a thing, but as you can see it does happen.
