The Frinton and Walton town council have warned the Walton Bingo club that they could not carry on using the hall where they hold their weekly bingo session in if their bingo players continued to bring in their own cakes and biscuits to eat instead of buying snacks from the kiosk, that is located within the hall. Frinton on sea is notorious for disliking change and it was only the other day that their towns golf club allowed for a slight change in their dress code allowing men to wear short socks instead of knee high socks that had been the dress code at the golf club for many years. Rather than waiting to be evicted the bingo loving pensioners have decided to fight back and they are now relocating to new premises at the Royal Albion pub. It has been said that the OAP’s were smuggling in food because they felt that the prices to buy food at the kiosk were too high for them to be able to afford. With the cost of living rising by the day at the moment it is no wonder these pensioners are watching their pennies and it seems a shame that they now have to move premises due to this warning from their local council. One of the members of the Walton Bingo club, Kathleen Gilbert who lives of Florence Road in Walton, had this to say on the matter – “It is just a case of people taking a packet of biscuits or a few cakes and handing them round. No-one likes to be threatened with eviction, especially old age pensioners. We ourselves are all looking forward to our new future bingo club." Frinton and Walton town council said that they could not comment on a relationship with a hirer of a hall. You will not find any brash commercialisation at Frinton on Sea and the town did not even get a pub until the year 2000. Residents at Frinton on Sea companied against the pub being allowed and banned ice cream on their beaches and now the towns council are not happy with the Walton Bingo Club pensioners for daring to bring their own goodies to their weekly Wednesday session of bingo. You do however have to say one good thing about Frinton on Sea, as it has always held its charm and is far less commercialised than nearby Walton and Clacton on Sea, and families still flock to their clean sandy beaches year on year. The nearest land based bingo hall to Walton is Gala Bingo, which is located in Clacton on Sea, so ladies you could always take a trip their or even try your hand at online bingo, where you could get together with your friends and eat as many cakes and biscuits as you like! |
