I recently wrote about a brand new Mecca Bingo hall that opened up on Valentine’s night in the Kent area at the Westwood Cross Shopping Centre.
Mecca Bingo really did open their doors in style on this night of great bingo entertainment and over 800 players turned up to play bingo and see the opening of this new Mecca Bingo club.
Before the launching of their new club in Kent, Mecca Bingo run a Valentines competition in the area to find Thanet’s most romantic couple. Michael and Donella Palmer, were the lucky couple to win and they had been married for eight years on Valentines night. They were picked up by a horse drawn carriage form their home in Ramsgate and taken to the Mecca Bingo hall, where they were treated to a champagne filled night of entertainment at the bingo club, which also included a cabaret, plus great bingo too.
The bingo players that joined Mecca Bingo on their opening night were also in for a surprise, because Anthony Cotton, who plays the character “Sean” in Coronation Street, kicked off this great night of bingo fun for Mecca Bingo by calling out the numbers on the first bingo game of the evening. He also signed lots of photographs for the players to; on what was a fun filled night for all that took part.
The opening of a new bingo club brings hope to all players out there that land based bingo is fighting back against such adversity that is dominating the bingo industry at the moment. I am sure we would all love to hear the news that there was not going to be any more bingo hall closures.
This state of the art Mecca Bingo hall, that stands on a 40,000 sq ft complex, cost the Rank Group approximately £6 million to build and it will also feature a G Casino, which is due to be opened on the 28th February.
