The Mecca Bingo club in North Street in Exeter has just seen one of its members win a huge jackpot bingo prize of a whopping £639,000, when Sunday’s Platinum playoff National Bingo game took place.
The lucky lady is 64 years old and works as a hospital admin assistant has asked to remain anonymous, but she did give the National Gaming body a quote about her massive bingo win and this is what she had to say:
“It just won’t register how much I have won and I am still in shock. I had two or three medicinal brandies and woke up with a sore head this morning. Thank God it was Bank Holiday Monday and I could sit at home and try to come to terms with it. I joined Mecca Bingo in 1993 and I drive two friends from the village to play bingo there every Sunday. I had already won a £60 house earlier in the evening before hitting the jackpot. When I got home I showed it to my husband, who doesn’t play, and he was over the moon with that.”
That is only half to story and here is what happened next: “Then I showed him the club prize and he was thrilled, followed by the claims form for the rest which just didn’t register. He thought it said £639. When he realised there was also three noughts, he needed a brandy as well.”
This is the biggest jackpot cash prize to ever be won at the Mecca Bingo club in Exeter and I am sure they are as delighted for the lucky winner as much as she is herself. She has two sons and three grandchildren and it has been said that she plans to buy her husband something he has wanted for a long time a brand new shed so he can put his lawnmower away in, along with this the lucky lady said that she plans to buy a new car and of course treat her family, but she is still unsure as to what they will do with the rest of the money, but she assured the national gaming body that they will be sensible with it.
Winning the National Bingo game on the platinum playoffs of Sunday night in 45 numbers is what secured the lucky lady this huge cash prize, which is a relatively high number to win this amazing jackpot in. The Platinum jackpot stood at ££561,306 on Sunday night, plus the lady won the National Game prize of £74,960, plus the regional prize of £3,260 and Mecca Bingo's own in house prize of £199. This gave her total winnings for a night out at the bingo toppling £639,000!
The Platinum Jackpot prize was a great addition to the National Bingo game and has just made another family very happy indeed and has given them peace of mind for a now secure financial future.
