We have had “Britain’s got Talent” now Gala Bingo presents “Bingos got talent”, where 8 finalists will battle it out in a showdown to be crowned, Gala Bingo’s caller of the year in their annual competition. Bingo callers have been battling it out across the country over the past few months to make it into the grand final that will take place in Birmingham on 29th June.
This is a fierce contest and is one all Gala Bingo callers would love to win. There will be eight finalists competing on Sunday night, not only win the prestigious “Gala Bingo Caller of the Year 2008” title, but a cash prize and the chance to audition to become a bingo caller on Gala Bingo's TV channel Sky, 851.
Out of the many bingo callers that battled it out in gladiator like scenes throughout the county only one lady bingo caller made it through to the finals. Tracey Claire will be going head to head against seven other contestants who are all men, in what traditionally is predominantly a male dominated event. The vast majority of bingo callers throughout the country are male, which is why you do see more male contestants than females, entering this competition.
Tracey works in the Stockdale Green Gala Bingo club and had this to say about making it into the finals. “With the support I have received from the public, I feel like a true star and cannot wait to show the judges what I’m made of. The support at work has been fantastic. My bingo club has always prided itself on providing the best callers and I want to keep that reputation alive.”
Michael Edwards is the defending champion, and following lasts years success he now has a number of fans that will be rooting for him on the night, so he will be even more determined to show the judges what he is made of as he fights to win the Gala Bingo Caller of the 2008 title, for the second year in a row.
All the finalists will be judge on stage presence, appearance and interview technique, at Gala Bingo, Kingsbury Road, Birmingham, in this super showdown.
Gala Bingo's, Business Development Manager, Bob Smith, said: “This year’s competition has been tougher than ever, with our trademark Calling Academy continuing to produce high calibre contestants. We are always surprised at the gladiatorial atmosphere of the finals, with each contender bringing an army of fans from their region. It’s a great day out for many of the club regulars, who want to see their caller, often something of a local celebrity, bring the trophy back.”
We now wait in anticipation to see just who will crowned “Gala Bingo Caller of the year 2008”.
