Michael Edwards has done it again by blowing away the competition and prevailing “Top” in the bingo caller of the year stakes, as he has just been crowned “Gala Bingo Caller or the year” for the second year in a row! Not only has Michael won this prestigious title and a great cash prize, he has also earned to right to audition to become a Gala Bingo Caller on their live TV show, so keep an eye on your TV screens as Michael might be putting in an appearance on their very soon!
It was a twist of fate that led Michal to become a bingo caller in the first place, as it was only after he went to bingo for the first time with his mum and won a full house prize, that he decided to try and get a job in the bingo industry and after persevering for three months, he finally landed his dream job as a “Bingo Caller” for Gala Bingo.
Michael’s home club is Stratford and he has now been a bingo caller there for the past eight years. He is also only the second person ever to win this prestigious title twice and it is a huge achievement to make and is much sought after in the bingo world.
A total of eight contestants battled it out at Gala Bingo in Birmingham on Sunday night, but Michael held his nerve and successfully defended his title coming out victorious in this super competition. It has been said, that Michael has also picked up a huge fan club along his way, with many of his supporters making the trip to Birmingham to lend their support and cheer him on his way.

The Gala Bingo Club in Birmingham where the competition was held was decorated out for the event with hundreds of blue and yellow balloons, dictating the Gala Bingo colours and on entering the venue all spectators and players were given goodie bags, sweets and dabbers.
