It is about to be a double celebration for a lucky grandmother called Barbara Powell from Risca in Newport, because she has just won more that £33,000 on the National Bingo game just a few short weeks before she is due to celebrate her 66th birthday.
Double numbers certainly seem to be in play here and thanks to this massive jackpot bingo win, lucky Barbara is sure to be celebrating her birthday in style now! It has been reported by the national gaming body, that the lucky gran is a regular bingo play at her local Castle Bingo hall, which is situated in Usk Way in Newport.
The National Bingo game just seems to keep on producing those big bingo wins and what is even more great about this winning bingo story is that Barbara will be sticking to an agreement made with her two friends, whom she attends bingo with and will be splitting the money she won equally between them.
The lucky lady is married with three children of her own and one grandchild, it has been said that she intends to treat her family out of her share of the winnings and make some improvements to her garden.
This is what Barbara herself, had to say about her fab bingo win: “I went mad when I realised how much I had won and stood on the table shouting yippee,” she said, “I then ran down the stairs and gave Perry, the caller, a kiss. We share everything, even if it’s only 50p, and we have done since day one. I just can’t get over it and I couldn’t sleep Tuesday night for thinking about what I was going to do with my share.”
It was calling house in just 42 numbers on the National Bingo Game that scooped Barbara and her two friends this super bingo prizes and this is how their winnings were made up. The National games jackpot prize on the evening stood at £30,805, plus they also won the regional prize of £2,046, plus Castle Bingo's own in house prize of a very nice £245! This totted up to just over £33,000 for a night out at the bingo for these three lucky ladies, which gives them winnings of just over £11,000 each.
