Bingo Caller to Celebrity

A number of celebrities started off their careers in bingo halls before they made it big in the celebrity world and these include movie heartthrob Russell Crowe, Kian from West Life, Simon from boy band Blue and Eastender’s very own Shane Richie. They all began their working lives calling out bingo numbers in their respective bingo halls before making the jump into stardom! Robbie Williams even went to his local bingo hall in stoke to play bingo with Daryl Hannah for his music video called “Steal”.

Robbie Williams is not new to the world of bingo either as it has been known for him to attend bingo charity events in the past, where it was even reported a while back that he won a handbag as a prize, but just what he did with it is unknown! It has been widely reported in the past that celebrities just love to have a good old game of bingo and it has even been said that Catherine Zeta Jones who is married to Hollywood legend Michael Douglas can thank bingo for where she is today, as it was a big bingo win that was won by her dad that gave him enough money to be able to send her to theatre school and without it she may not be where she is today and the world would not know about Catherine Zeta Jones!

This is a new one on me, as apparently the Queen herself is partial to a game of bingo, but instead of calling house she calls “Palace” if she wins! Just how does her Majesty the Queen play bingo? Maybe gets together with friends at Buckingham Palace or her retreat at Balmoral in Scotland for a few games, who knows she may even play bingo online, now there’s food for thought!

It has been stated that 8% of the UK population now play bingo, 10% of which are woman bingo players with the male species of our race coming in at 5%. Just what are the most common reasons players give for playing bingo? Companionship and a chance to socialise with other people, plus being fun top the list as well as it being quite an inexpensive game to play, where large sums of cash can be won. The popularity of bingo has never lost its edge and even though the bingo industry as a whole have been facing some extremely rough times of late, I am sure the game of bingo will prevail!
