That old saying “Beginners Luck” has just struck again for one very lucky Gala Bingo player to the tune of £187,000! Taking a trip to her local Gala Bingo Hall for the very first time on a Sunday afternoon because her husband was busy watching the football has just landed the lucky lady this huge cash prize.
It was the Platinum jackpot prize that just gave this lady a bingo win she will remember for the rest of her life and one that will no longer be available for all of Gala Bingo’s players after 31st August.
The 43 lady who comes from Cusworth in Doncaster asked to remain anonymous but she did have this to say to the National Gaming body about her fantastic win: “I just can’t take it in and I have to keep pinching myself,” she said still in shock this week. “It’s a nice feeling but a bit like sickness in my stomach! I only joined Gala Bingo in Wheatley Hall Road originally four years ago so that I could use the loo there when I was passing, because Matalan closed theirs. Then I decided I liked to play bingo.”
As it was the last Sunday of the month the Platinum Jackpot prize came into play and was going to be won by whatever lucky player won the afternoons National Bingo Game, which meant the lady won the Platinum jackpot prize of a massive £177,048, plus the National Bingo Game prize of £8,920 and the regional prize of £1,007, plus Gala Bingo’s own in house prize of 185. It was calling up on this game in 45 numbers that bagged the lady this massive cash prize, which was the lowest amount of calls on this game throughout all of the participating bingo clubs.
The Lady also went on to say: “I usually play on a Tuesday and occasionally a Thursday, but last weekend my nine-year-old son was at cub camp and my husband went to a pub with friends to watch Doncaster Rovers in the play-off so I decided I might as well go to the Gala. I went to the pub to break the news to him – he was already happy that Doncaster beat Leeds – and he thought I was joking at first. We both woke at 2.30a.m. the next morning and couldn’t get back to sleep.”
You may or may not believe in the saying beginners luck, but never playing bingo on a Sunday before and then winning this huge cash sum, certainly seems like the myth may be up to its old tricks again, or it just be a case of being in the right place at the right time!
