An allowance of 15% is now due to be applied to all bingo halls to their rateable value and what’s more they should get this allowance back dated. |

Julian Cottrell, former manager of the Beacon Bingo Club has now turned his hand to Cafe Owner after opening his own cafe in Fish Street, Northampton last week. The former bingo boss ran the Beacon bingo club in St James, for about 6 years and you could say that he also made history in South Africa because it was reported that he was the first ever bingo caller to call out bingo numbers in South Africa, where he worked at the time back in 1998. |

MP Stewart House and spokesperson for the SNP Treasury Party has backed the land based bingo industries fright to abolish the absurd double taxation law that is placed upon bingo halls throughout the UK. Under this current law, bingo clubs have to pay both VAT at 17.5% and a gross profit tax at 15% and this is believed to be a massive contributing factor as to why we have seen over 100 bingo halls close their doors for the very last time over recent years. |

The Buckingham Bingo hall in Walkden, Salford (near Manchester) have been fined £10,000, plus ordered to pay court costs of £2,000, after it was found their safety standards were still not up to scratch nine months on after one of their bingo employees seriously burned themselves in an accident in their kitchen. It has been reported that the Buckingham Bingo Hall pleaded guilty of failing to ensure the health, safety and welfare at work of employees in the Ellesmere Retail Park, at Salford Magistrates Court last week. |

Amelia turned 100 years old on 5th November and she celebrated this milestone in her life by holding a big birthday bash at her local British Legion Club in Rumney, Cardiff, where she still plays bingo at least once a week. It was reported that more than 150 people attended her big birthday event to congratulate the lady, but due to an error when her father registered her date of birth with the registry office when she was born, Amelia was still waiting from her card from the Queen as her dad put her date of birth down as 15th November instead of 5th November. |
